Information for visitors
The municipal archive is located in the old town of Dinslaken on Elmar-Sierp-Platz, directly opposite the Voswinckelshof Museum. Bicycle parking spaces are available near the museum entrance. The parking spaces for visitors to the City Historic Centre can be reached via Brückstraße/Duisburger Straße. To be granted access, please use the "Archive" bell button on the intercom column next to the bollard.

The Reading Room of the city archives is open to all members of the public for research purposes. Visitors must sign an attendance form and follow Reading Room guidelines during their visit. It is required to schedule an appointment by e-mail or telephone in advance. The staff of the archives is available to advise users and support them in their research.
Once a year or in the event of a change in the research topic, an application for use must be submitted (can be filled out directly during the visit). The use is limited to the purpose stated in the application. The archives are to be ordered by the user before they can be viewed in the reading room. It cannot be guaranteed that the documents can be presented immediately, so it is advisable to order in advance by e-mail.
It is not possible to borrow any archive material. Every archival document is unique and needs to be handled with care, ensuring they're preserved for others to use and learn from in the future. If the state of preservation is at risk, no submission can be made. Files of more recent date, in particular personal documents, are subject to a blocking period and can't be presented. It should be noted that a specimen copy must be submitted for every published work, but also for unpublished works that are essentially based on the use of sources in the archive.
