About us

The Landesarchiv Nordrhein-Westfalen is open to all citizens; it is the "memory" of the state. The Landesarchiv takes over, stores, supplements and preserves documents on the history of the state and its functional predecessors, indexes these holdings and makes them accessible to a broad public.

The State Archives of North Rhine-Westphalia have been a central institution of North Rhine-Westphalia’s state archiving system since 2004, and their headquarters are in Duisburg.
